A small crossword after reading a Bible passage

I am sharing a small reading activity from our Bible4Soul project. For families reading the Bible in English, a crossword can give everyone a reason to go back over the words, especialy the unfamiliar ones.
The free Bible crossword is one option. Pick a short passage first and keep a Bible nearby. Looking up a clue is fine, it doesnt need to become a memory test. A few answers is enough for one sitting.
With mixed ages i'd let people work in pairs, and leave time to talk about what a word means in the passage. No timer needed.. Does anyone here use word puzzles alongside family reading, or do they distract too much from the story?
